Two panels, the F‑keys, and your files where you left them.
Eagle Commander is a file manager for macOS in the tradition of Total Commander. Copy with F5, move with F6, mark with the space bar, and keep your hands on the keyboard.

Click the window and try it: ↑ ↓ move, Space marks, ← → switch panels.
The first version is with Apple, who check and sign every app that is not from the App Store. It will be here, and on Homebrew, as soon as they are done.
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Or with Homebrew:
brew install --cask ulebule/tap/eagle-commander
What it does
- The panels
- Two panels with tabs, a folder tree, brief and full listings, quick search by name and a quick filter.
- Tabs locked to a folder, favourite folders, history, and panels side by side or one above the other.
- Colour rules by mask, age or size. The branch view: every file below a folder in one flat list.
- Files
- Copy, move and delete with progress, conflicts, cancelling and a background queue.
- Multi-rename with patterns and counters, attributes and dates, split and join, SHA-256 and BLAKE3 checksums.
- Compare two folders and synchronize them, with a direction for every pair. Compare two files line by line.
- Archives
- ZIP and TAR read and written, RAR and 7z read. An archive opens like a folder.
- Encrypted ZIP with AES-256, and the password never on a command line.
- Finding things
- Search by name, size, date and content, as text or a regular expression, inside archives too.
- Saved searches, and a duplicate finder that decides by content.
- Servers and the rest
- SFTP: a server behaves like a folder, with the same keys as the disk.
- A viewer for text, hex and images, a command line, and a real terminal below the panels.
- A button bar, your own commands, and every shortcut rebindable.
- In English, Slovenian, German, French, Italian and Russian.
- Not yet
- No plugins (Total Commander’s are Windows libraries), no FTP or WebDAV, no thumbnails. Folders with more than about 20,000 files list noticeably slower.
Try it for 30 days
Everything works for 30 days. After that, Eagle Commander keeps browsing, searching, viewing and comparing; copying, moving, deleting and other changes need a licence.
A licence is paid once and covers every 1.x version. It is yours on all your Macs. Buying for a team? Choose the number of licences at checkout.
VAT included. Orders are handled by Paddle, our reseller. Not happy? You get your money back within 30 days, no questions asked.
It sends nothing anywhere
A file manager sees every file on your disk, so this one keeps to itself: no telemetry, no usage counts, no crash reports sent behind your back. Your licence key is checked on your Mac, without the internet.
The one time Eagle Commander goes online is to look for a new version, and only if you said yes when it asked. The privacy policy says exactly what that request contains.
